While I had only owned my "almost new" Niner WFO for the better part of a year, the bike always seemed to have some funny quirks about it since its inception. With a very high front end and an overly long wheelbase, playful was never a word I would use to describe it. I was just longing for something that was a little more playful, akin to the famed Santa Cruz 5010 but with a bit more travel. Thus, the seed was planted. Like the movie inception, all it takes is an idea, and that idea soon manifests itself into a full fledged longing for a new bike...

Living in Colorado, there is definitely no shortage of awesome single track to explore. That being said, it always seems like all of the small mountain towns (Salida, Vail, Winter park) get the attention for having the must ride single track... While these trails are great in there own right, I think there is much better riding to be had, much closer to home. Because of this, I decided I would dedicate this blog post to showcasing some of my favorite riding areas that are hugely underrated, but nonetheless impressive...
To be honest, I've been slacking a lot this year in the riding category. To date I have just over 200 miles on my new Niner since its custom inception this fall, which is reasonable for only getting out to the trailhead a couple of times a week... But not at all up to the standards i'm used to setting for myself. To cap off a somewhat sub par season I decided I needed to test my mettle with one last ride in the Betasso preserve before temperatures plummeted later in the day.
